Cabinets
As the focal point of the kitchen, the choice of cabinetry was a difficult one to make. The Merillat Classic line of cabinetry features fresh style and timeless design and is a perennially popular collection. The Classic line includes a choice of 20 door styles, 5 wood species, 13 finishes and 7 glazes and premium finishes. All Merillat cabinets are made in the USA, and many are made right here in Michigan. In fact, the Goetzs’ kitchen cabinets were built in Adrian, Michigan! From all the beautiful options, Tom and Audrey selected the Seneca Ridge Arch door style of Merillat Classic cabinets in Oak with a Cider finish. The cabinets are the perfect choice for the country kitchen Audrey’s been dreaming of.
Countertop
Granite countertops provide a distinguished look to any kitchen. Both striking and durable, granite is the ideal choice for a kitchen countertop. Individually cut from slabs found all over the world, no two granite tops are exactly alike. The natural depth and character of a granite countertop makes each one unique. After a friendly family debate, Audrey and Tom finally decided on a very eye-catching slab of Golden Persa. Great Lakes Granite & Marble of Reford, Michigan, supplied and installed the beautiful new granite countertop and a double bowl stainless steel undermount sink that will be perfect for all of Audrey’s canning!
Appliances
From another Michigan company, ABC Warehouse, Tom and Audrey selected a complete set of stainless steel, made in the USA Frigidaire appliances. Because ABC knows what an avid cook Audrey is, she received not just one range, but an additional built-in oven as well! All the appliances in Audrey’s new kitchen are from the top of the line Frigidaire professional series. The new refrigerator will hold several gallons of milk for all of those growing children, and the new dishwasher will save Audrey from countless hours washing at the kitchen sink!
Tile Backsplash
The stone backsplash truly sets off the rest of the pieces in the Goetz kitchen. Selected from the hundreds of choices at The Tile Shop in Ann Arbor, Tom and Audrey made the best choice! The dominating tile is Mojave tumbled stone, while a Bowman listello provides the decorative stripe, highlighted by a Luoyang Café Somerset liner. The twist in the listello perfectly coordinates with the roping in the cabinet’s crown molding, and the black liner pulls from the random stripes in the granite countertop.
Flooring
After living with the sub-floor of her kitchen exposed for the past year, Audrey was anxious to get new flooring that was not only durable, but also attractive. Carpet Center and Floors of St. Clair Shores had the ultimate solution for the kitchen -- Quadra Quick Step. This laminate flooring provides the Goetz kitchen with the look of ceramic tile, without all the hassle. In a house full of rambunctious children, the last thing Audrey needs to worry about is bumps and bruises from falls or broken glasses from accidental spills. Quick Step Tile in Tramonto gives the Goetz kitchen the best of both worlds – the look of stone with the easy maintenance of laminate. Audrey opted to have the floor installed in a diamond pattern, enhancing the custom look of the entire space.
Accessories
All the finishing touches truly tied the kitchen together in the end. With a fabulous gooseneck faucet from Kohler, Audrey will have no problem doing all of her canning in her new stainless steel sink. The sink is also outfitted with an ultra quiet garbage disposer and air switch, provided by Ferguson. With all of the amazing selections in hardware Richelieu provides, it was easy for Audrey and Tom to find handles that coordinated with their kitchen, and were easy to clean from the kids’ messy hands – always an important feature for Audrey!
Furniture
As an added surprise, the Goetz family received a gorgeous new dining table from Art Van complete with eight chairs and an additional bench, certain to accommodate the large family that gather each night for meals.
Mini-Bathroom Makeover
KSI surprised Tom and Audrey with the starting steps to making over their bathroom – a project Audrey is anxious to begin! With a new vanity from Merillat, a beautiful Marbelite top with an integrated sink, and a toilet, bathtub, and faucets by Mirabelle from Ferguson, Tom has no excuse not to give Audrey the bathroom she’s been longing for!
